My new not-visual-novel game progress

Post by Nastia_Sholokhova »

I would like to share the progress of the game I am making at the moment here. It is called 'God left'.
Last month I released my first project, visual novel called 'Before I forget' on itch. It was actually project for my studies so I haven't expected much and still not confident about it. But I liked the process of making games so much that I decided to create more games and develop my skills in drawing and coding.
My first game was made with Ren'py but actually I was too sick of it after a few months of development as it was quite hard sometimes to add features which I wanted to create. So I tried Unity and now I am making my second game which will be somehow connected with 'Before I forget'. But it will be much more interesting that a simple visual novel, I promise.
It will contain five chapters and there will be roguelike, platformer and space shooter levels. The game will be about a girl suffering from insomnia. And these levels will be her own first and too realistic dreams, from which she won't have the ability to escape until she finds three magic subjects. Maybe this whole thing is ridiculous but I hope it will be at least funny.
I have already added some scenes to prologue and am currently making an in-game computer screen with protagonist's diaries and messages.
I also want to try to record my own music for my project.
Here are some screenshots of my game:

That's quite a combination. How are you thinking about making these work together?

I use like one kind of game because I'm too scared about trying to combine things like you're doing.

I just thought they could mesh well together, connected with that concept of dreams. Actually, I think it will be useful and interesting experience working with so many things at the same time.

I looked into making a hacking simulator game a while ago, but I got stuck on the design. I love your desktop image.

How are you going to go about recording your music? Are you a muscician?

Thank you! Hacking simulator sounds cool!
I have a musical education so I can play piano, guitar and sing but, first of all, I want to find out more about programs for making music such as FL Studio, for example as they still remain a mystery for me.

I look forward to seeing how this game turns out.

Combining roguelike, 2d shooter, and visual novel sounds really cool.

It seems like the combination has so many possibilities and so much potential.

I'd suggest you look into Cakewalk Sonar and grab those free VSTs. With Piano training you're pretty much set, you just need to experiment with VSTs.
